The top engineering entrance exams in India are:

  • JEE Mains exam which was known as AIEEE previously is the entrance exam to government funded colleges like NITs in India.

  • BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test) for admission to the BITS located at Goa, Bits Pilani and Hyderabad.
  • VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Exam) for admission to the VITs located in Chennai and Vellore.

The IIT (Indian Institute of Technology)

BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and science)

Eligibility criteria for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced

The students appearing for JEE Mains should have passed the 12th board exams or any equivalent exam with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must secure minimum of 75% in those five subjects. The candidates having SC/ ST or OBC quota need to secure 65% marks in their 12th board exams. You can apply for the JEE Mains for a maximum of three times. In JEE Advanced exams, only the top 1, 50,000 rank holders from JEE Mains can apply for the exam.

Eligibility criteria for BITSAT

You need to have a minimum of 75% marks in the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in your 12th board exam results for getting admission to BITS. Apart from that all the top rank holders in all the first rank holders in all state and central engineering entrance exams will be given admission provided they are eligible in the above mentioned criteria.

Eligibility criteria for VITEEE

You need to have a minimum of 60% in your Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in your 10+2 board exams or any of its equivalent exams. The SC, ST, OBC and the candidates from Jammu and Kashmir and North-eastern India are required to score only 50% in the PCB subjects in their 12th board exam.
